The Campaigns Hub has arrived – do something useful!

Well the blogging break is over and the new look site has finally arrived.  Mostly the blog has been rearranged to make it easier to navigate and hopefully more visually appealing.  I hope it meets with your approval, but do say what you think!

The main news is that I’ve put together a campaigns hub.  The Campaigns Hub is a resource point where you can find simple ways to make a positive difference in our country and beyond by taking part in current campaigns organised by leading Christian organisations.

There are some great organisations lobbying Government and campaigning on a range of issues.  I’ve regularly found that it takes a while to go round the sites I know and see what they’re up to.  As I couldn’t find anywhere else that has provided a one-stop-shop to easily see what’s going on at a glance, I thought I’d get on and do it, hopefully for everyone’s benefit.

I’ve started just with Christian organisations and campaigns, not becasue I have anything against non-religious organisations, but rather because I didn’t want it to get too unwieldly to start with.  I’m happy to have my attention drawn to other ones, so please let me know if you’re aware of a campaign that I should consider adding to the list.

These campaigns don’t involve giving money, but instead just a bit of your time.  Whether you know a lot about the issues or just want to start campaigning you could be emailing the Prime Minister, Government Departments or your own MP within seconds.  Usually you’ll be asked to sign a petition or send an email to an MP or foreign ambassador.  Most of the time you’ll even find that the emails are prewritten so you can either send one as it is or edit it to make it more personal.

Many of these type of campaigns have been successful.  Just think about the Make Poverty History campaign.  It achieved incredible things around the world and has changed the lives of millions living in the poorest countries.  It all started with Christians in the UK getting together and making their voices heard.

Why not have a look around and dive in .  You can take a look on the menu bar to find out more.  It takes about 5 minutes to send of an email, but it might end up being one of the most important things you do day today.

Don’t just sit there, do something useful!

  1. From the point of view of appearance I preferred your original look – for its simplicity and clarity. From the point of view of usefulness and interest I like your changes and the additional links. I especially like the idea of a Campaigns Hub.

  2. Well, for what it’s worth I like it.

  3. Smart one Gillan, and pleased you found a tidy theme with previous posts’ headers so easily accessible – but as for commentators’ mugshots in the sidebar I may go ‘anon’, but not ‘awol’.
Joking apart, trust you’ll be able to tweak this theme better than WP’s default Twenty Eleven, which makes the editor in me often cringe with frustration. But as haven’t time to waste it’s taught me the virtues of acceptance and patience.
Thanks for your new campaigns hub – it should prove to be a very useful reference tool.

  4. Welcome back Gillan. Hope you enjoyed the break and had some great family time. I have missed my evening G&P. The campaign hub is a great idea an encouragement to action after considering all the viewpoints. I agree too Richard has a great smile. Thank you for all your hard work
